Marble Hill: Continuing a Family Tradition in Stone
Silvermere welcomes its new strategic partner

Every exceptional stone carries a story—one shaped by the land, its people and their vision. In August 2026, Silvermere welcomed Marble Hill as a new strategic partner, uniting generations of quarrying experience with a shared ambition for Namibian marble. Through Namagra, which has exported marble blocks to more than 30 countries since 1987, and Xclusive Marble Processing, a specialist in premium slabs, Marble Hill brings the White Rhino marble journey together—from the Namibian quarry to prestigious projects around the world.
A family legacy built from stone
The story behind this partnership began generations ago. Michiel and Lisa’s grandfather, Jan Gerhardt de Wet, came from a family closely connected to Aliwal North—now Maletswai—in South Africa’s Eastern Cape. As the father of five daughters, he understood that the family farm might not continue in its traditional form. Instead of seeing an ending, he saw an opportunity to diversify.
The surrounding hills contained extensive dolerite formations created millions of years ago during the breakup of Gondwana. Recognising the growing demand for durable aggregate, Gerhardt and his nephew, Hendrik Odendaal, founded Aliwal Dolerite Quarry in the mid-1960s.
Starting from scratch on the Oosterlig farm, they established an open-cast quarry and built a complete crushing and production facility. As regional investment in roads, bridges, railways and housing increased, the company grew. In 1976, it opened a second quarry near Aggeneys to supply construction aggregate to Black Mountain Mining. By the late 1980s, Aliwal Dolerite Quarry had become a successful enterprise and was sold to Rubex Aggregate Operations.
That pioneering spirit—building with purpose, adapting to change and remaining connected to the land—became an enduring part of the family’s story.
From the quarry to the finished slab
Founded in 1987, Namagra is a fully Namibian-owned, family-run company known for the quality of its marble, the excellence of its service and its commitment to green mining, rehabilitation and community development.
A new phase began in 2020 with the construction of a state-of-the-art processing facility. In 2021, Xclusive Marble Processing began full production, cutting, resining, reinforcing and polishing marble supplied by its sister company, Namagra, into export-quality slabs.
By bringing Namagra and Xclusive together under Marble Hill, the family continues its long-standing connection to quarrying while creating an integrated platform for Namibian marble—from extraction and processing to global distribution.
Continuing the journey together
The partnership between Silvermere and Marble Hill marks the next chapter in this family-business legacy. It combines generations of entrepreneurial experience with a shared ambition to bring Namibia’s distinctive White Rhino marble to discerning customers and prestigious projects worldwide.
